Experience counts - To make it count

Experience counts only if we really learn something out of it. We are not dump enough to allow the people who follow us, who is now travelling the same path that we just finished travelling, to do the same mistake. We are humans, a species with the ability to learn, think faster than other species, that's the reason we are developing faster. With technology, we should learn faster than ever and become better than ever. Is that happening really? Facebook, a technology to reach, connect people. Are we becoming better by connecting to people, by learning from the experience.

Please share your last semester experience, and make it count to the next generation to come. Take out your 2 to 3 hours of your busy, unscheduled time for this, write down your experience as a comment here, or somewhere where you think, you can make yours count. Lets become better every day in every way.

Let me talk to you about this in detail, let me show you how is it going to help.

To give you an example, this is how your comment is going to look to others who read.

This a comment given by Mukhil senior (2009 passed out) for my first ever published post in this blog.

Let me explain, so if each one of us write our experience, can you imagine the result that we gonna get out of it!!  Imagination is the limit. Think!!!

To tell you, one crucial example, we could have avoided (i am sorry to point out this incident)- We could have avoided people perishing in MIT hostel by hanging themselves (let him rest in peace). we will not be making the same mistakes.

And the mistakes done by Mukhil senior is here as he listed it down as a comment.

I was thinking to write down everything like this in my first post itself. But if you see, i have stopped immediately after writing down the first day of first semester.

first post: http://naanunnaipoloruvan.blogspot.in/2011/08/what-is-happening-around-you-first.html?showComment=1327334090271#comment-c1786806095068172166

"Lets go back and see, what do they really do?

First day, 8am:

Hundreds of young mind will be walking on the single road. From nowhere, all of a sudden, they all arrive at the same place. If you give a thought about it, that nowhere is 'everywhere from tamilnadu'. I am not sure whether supercomputer can calculate that much, can process that much thoughts. Each process is unique in one way or the other. It is not as simple as addition, subtraction and multiplication to be easily executed by supercomputer.

(the author stresses the thoughts of all people, their problems. (some might be thinking abt family, some about
their Medical dream, some about IAS dream, and so on and so many.. )

9:00 am:The whole crowd would have been disappeared, they will be distributed in the name of batches.

What happens next will be a history, the history which is never read by the people involved in it, the history which is not written anywhere but in the deepest corner of their brains. "

Are you the one who wants to see the changes in India? Lets start by rectifying our mistakes, by not doing it again and by letting the next generation know about it.

நான்,
உன்னை போல் ஒருவன்.

Hope Circuit?

Hey, Dude, what are you talking about? Hope circuit? This is something which palakuttis/toppers will do, this is not for us. I cannot do this and i am not going to do this. i am going to be in my hostel room.

If this is your felling about this contest, read this.

Who should do Hope Circuit?
If I can get a job in Electronics Company, I would say, each one of you as well can get it. At least, you have the rights to ask employers (APPLE) to give you the electronics design task (future- iPad12). So, to answer the question in hand, one who wants to give himself to electronics, one who wants to feel Electronics

Well, How to get started?
If you are a first year/second year (better late than never) student of electronics department, considering that only three weeks are left, and considering that you don’t have an innovative idea, choose a circuit from internet with some application containing a resistor, capacitor, inductor (if possible), diode, BJT, MOSFET, SCR, Zener (who is he?) diode, opamp, timer, Widlar (who is he? Source, led, mike, antenna, speaker, IR sensor, R_NTC, varactor, varistor, thermistor.. What else..

What to do now?
1. Ignore application, Get a circuit with maximum variety (- maximum learning) of components which you will be reading in Electronic Devices, this semester.
2. Collect the datasheets of each component.
3. Read all the parameters (get to know what they mean) defined for each component. Get to know different manufacturers (your future employers)
4. Go to Ritchie Street and buy all the components plus a good multimeter.
5. Verify their IO characteristics at Electronics lab, MIT after 5pm (after getting permission from HOD)
(Opportunity: few people (who are serious about learning from experienced seniors) can be the in charge of the lab after 5pm to say 9pm (good learning opportunity) and can make their resume distinct.)
6. Your circuit will be ready as you connect the components.

Conclusion:
You have had the first experience of understanding the electronic circuit, you have had the first experience of building others (in future, you will be designing your own) circuit. To summarize, you will be in the right track after taking ECE department here in our MIT. Let’s Make MIT better.

Now it is Electrofocus'12

Well, first semester has been over. We are in the second semester now. March 7, 2012 is over.
Entire March month will be over when Electrofocus’12 ends.
How many more months left in this semester? Hardly two, and namely April and May.

Well, what am I doing in MIT? I am learning electronics. Am I, really?
Let me check, if I am learning Electronics. Let me ask my friend whether he is learning.

Me: Dude, Do you know what electronics is? What are Electronic Devices?
Friend: Electronics is something which is about semiconductors. Electrical is about conductors. Electronic devices are devices constructed using semiconductors.
Me: what are resistor, capacitor and inductor?
    Friend: I do know, V=IR, C=q/V and ……..
Me: okay. That’s it, we are learning electronics.

Is that what we call learning electronics?

Who invented Transistor? When was it invented? How was it invented?
Who is Ohm, who is Weber, who is Tesla, who is Hertz? Who is Faraday?
Did you know what Edison write to Roosevelt during World war II?
What is a resistor? How is it manufactured? What are the technologies behind it?
What is a capacitor? Can it withstand if I apply 1000V?
What is an inductor? Can I make 1000H inductance?
Diode, can I use my Si diode at 400°C to rectify negative voltages?
What will happen to silicon at 1400°C?

Electronics is not something that one can understand in four nights (3assesment+1semester)?
It is more than 60years old. Don’t regret later, do it right at the first time, love Electronics and you should know what to do if you love someone.
